The design of this stone house was determined by a number of parameters.

Some of the above parameters are: The inclusion of the residence in a particular landscape, the respect of the terrain, a sustainable architectural approach, the manipulation of each elevation according to the orientation, the sun and wind infiltration, the maximum enjoyment of views both of the Lassithi Mountains and towards the northern Island of Dia, the use of excavated material and the respect of the local architectural tradition of the region.

Another very important factor was also the knowledge, determination and involvement in the design of the Greek-Dutch owners.

The brief requirements were for a home that is functional, easily accessible, stone made with low energy consumption, and "ground floor" (from both levels).
